EFFECTIVE WORKPLACE COMMUNICATION: PROMOTING SUCCESS THROUGH A CULTURE OF TRUST AND BELIEF

    Laurie McIntosh, SHRM-SCP, CAE

SHRM and other research studies indicate that effective workplace communication plays a key role in business success. For HR professionals, the ability to communicate effectively is a critical competency to be able to contribute to that success. In this session, you will learn the benefits of effective workplace communication, strategies for building a culture of trust and belief, the importance of effective communication as an HR competency, and the skills you need to develop to be a proficient communicator

A STRATEGIC APPROACH TO RISK MANAGEMENT

    Russell Thomas

There are inherent risks in any organization’s operational profile. It is necessary to properly evaluate those risks in order to incorporate their management within the overall business plan. Risk can be associated with such things as employee injury, property damage, business income interruption, product failure/underperformance, employment practices, regulatory oversight, fiduciary responsibilities, cybernetic operations, et cetera. Any one of these issues could be the genesis for both legal and financial liability for the organization. This module will discuss strategies which can be incorporated to manage the aforementioned risks as well as others specific to the group.

THE HIPPO SHOW: HOW TO CHANGE THE ORGANIZATIONAL CONVERSATION AND LEAD TRASFORMATIVE CHANGE

    Mark Kenny

Well-designed incentive pay plans will not only positively change employee behavior, but will also improve operating performance and profitability--quickly, significantly, and on a sustained basis. The harsh cold reality is that many companies (with good intentions) establish incentive plans that routinely have the same fatal flaws in plan design, communication, and implementation. As leaders, participants will be encouraged to think differently about measures and metrics, incentive pay, performance communication, and performance improvement teams.

    CHANGE NIRVANA: HAVE YOU ARRIVED?

    Donna Griggs

Picture “Change Nirvana”: a change is about to occur in your organization. Everyone affected is on board and embraces the change. The change is effective, people are happy, and your results are even better than you expected. Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable in your organization? Only you know the answer to that. We all face some type of change in our workplace on almost a daily basis. This change can be a minor adjustment of a process, a workforce transition, or an entire organizational transformation.

STRATEGY LESSONS FORM SOUTHWEST AIRLINES’ 46 YEARS OF SUCCESS

    Michael, McIntyre, PH.D.

This interactive workshop will look at the strategic principles underlying Southwest's halfcentury dominance of the airline industry, and give participants a chance to apply those principles to their own business

THINK LIKE A BRAND MANAGER TO DRIVE EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT (AND HELP IN RECRUITING)

Matt Gregory, MBA, GBA and Ron Reynolds, CCP

In a buyer's market, candidates and employees are able to be more selective with respect to employers. A strong economy and job market can add a lot of stress to an organization's efforts to recruit, hire and retain a qualified, engaged workforce. To succeed in the competition for talent, it is vital for employers to be effective at crafting and communicating their brand internally as well as externally. A holistic total rewards approach can make all the difference.
